Diane von Furstenberg has signed a partnership with id beauty to create its own cosmetics line and will release its first fragrance next year.

Chantal Roos, former president of Yves Saint Laurent Beaute, has helped Ms. Furstenberg create the scent. The designer is keeping the details of the fragrance under wraps.

Ms. Furstenberg said in a statement to the press that she and Ms. Roos have reviewed all possible options and that she chose to work with id beauty’s president and founder, Alexander Cukier, because of his ability to create a line that would continue the dialogue she has with women.

The Diane von Furstenberg line includes the signature DVF wrap dress, eyewear, footwear, luggage, handbags, swimwear, ready-to-wear, jewelry and watches. Diane von Furstenberg did not return a call to press by deadline.

Id beauty creates luxury, scientifically adaptable skincare for women.

The effort is not Ms. Furstenberg’s first in beauty. In 1975 she released her own scent, Tatiana and a cosmetics line, which she sold in 1983 to Beecham.

Ms. Furstenberg and Ms. Roos have been together creating the fragrance for a year and a half.

The designer went mobile in April with the launch of her iPhone application, which lets consumers purchase products directly from their mobile devices (see story).

There is no word yet on whether the Diane von Furstenberg cosmetic line and perfume will be available on the application.

Ms. Roos said she is happy to be associated with Ms. Furstenberg and the new line in a statement to the press. She said that with the team at id beauty, everything will be put in place to pave the way for beautiful things.
