Robb Report reveals luxury gems with “Best of” issue
By Rachel Lamb
Luxury lifestyle magazine Robb Report is kicking off its new iPad application with its “Best of the Best” issue, featuring exclusives such as videos, slideshows and images.
The “Best of the Best” issue features the ultimate luxury products and experiences in over 50 categories including watches, cars, journeys and leisure. The app is available in Apple’s App Store for free, with issues available for download with varying prices.
“Robb Report decided to launch its monthly magazine app with the ‘Best of the Best’ issue, as this is the cornerstone issue for the brand,” said John Anderson, vice president of digital for Robb Report. “No other issue of the magazine covers the luxury market as thoroughly as ‘Best of the Best.’
“By reviewing the newest products in over 50 categories, readers get a real feel for the luxury marketplace,” he said. “We wanted to give our current subscribers and new readers a preview of what is to come in the monthly iPad editions of the Robb Report.
“It was very important to the company that current subscribers have the opportunity to experience the Robb Report in print, digitally or both ways.”
Robb Report is a luxury lifestyle magazine selling and advertising luxury brand items.
This go-to magazine for elite brands wanting to market their products features jewelry, fashion, aircraft, automobiles, wine, cigars and travel advice for its affluent consumers.
Best of the Best
Robb Report rated the best luxury goods and experiences on categories in six departments: wheels, leisure, journeys, style, home and wings and water.
The categories consist of motorcycles, yachts, cars, watches, jets, destinations, hotels and fashion.
The app issue is free to existing print subscribers and $7.99 for non-subscribers.
Unlike the print versions, the iPad issue will feature new hotspots, slide shows, videos and images featuring luxury brands such as Ferrari.
The publication will offer unique content for each issue of Robb Report. It will provide access to all of the magazine’s content when held in “portrait,” or vertical, and can unlock a wide range of interactive enhancements when held “landscape,” or horizontal.
“Robb Report is committed to bringing its readers a true interactive digital experience,” Mr. Anderson said. “With the introduction of the monthly Robb Report magazine app, we will be able to share a wide range of new types of content not available in the magazine.
“Over the next year, we plan to add iPad app-only content to make this version of the magazine even more interesting to our readers,” he said.
Padded content
This is Robb Report’s second iPad app.
The publication first released a Holiday Host gift guide and iPad app in December, targeting wealthy gift-givers (see story).
Per the publisher, luxury brands can benefit from Robb Report’s iPad apps because the issues are targeted towards the wealthiest individuals in the United States.
The publication’s average household income is $554,192, with a circulation of 102,419.
Robb Report’s advertising and content include brands such as Ferrari, Bugatti, Bulgari, Cartier, Chanel and St. Regis.
“With the ‘Best of the Best’ magazine issue, Robb Report is launching an ongoing strategy of providing the magazine’s content to both current subscribers and new readers through the iPad,” Mr. Anderson said.
“As a company, we also learned a great deal from the launch of the holiday host guide in terms of usability, consumer response and content value that helped direct us in developing the monthly magazine app,” he said.
