Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts’ Trianon Palace Versailles has created a special couple’s package that looks to heighten all five of guests’ senses and encourage romance just in time for St. Valentine’s Day.

The “Five Senses” package is designed to be a 24-hour escape where each of the senses will be surprised in unexpected ways.  Trianon Palace Versailles is using the package to highlight its restaurant, spa and NightCove sleeping system.

“With the Five Senses package, we wanted to create a truly unique couple’s experience that offers our guests a variety of customizable exclusive experiences that they cannot receive anywhere else,” said Gregoire Salamin, general manager of Trianon Palace Versailles, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Versailles, France.

“In short, we wanted to provide these guests with the ultimate 24-hour romantic getaway,” he said.

The Five Senses package features a number of amenities that are meant to awaken the guest’s sense of sight, smell, taste, sound and touch.

A couple’s sense of taste will be engaged with an in-suite cocktail hour with chefs Simone Zanoni and Eddie Benghanem that will include Champagne and small plates such as foie gras and duck confit with ginger chutney.

The Five Senses suites will also contain complimentary samples of the chefs’ calming herbal teas.

Guests taking advantage of the package will receive a room junior suite with views over the gardens of the Château de Versailles.

In terms of sound, the suite will feature modern chamber music sounds by musician Beatrice Ardisson.

The suite will be scented with hints of amber especially created by Francis Kurkdijan to inspire relaxation.

The couple’s sense of smell will also be intrigued with bubbles that smell of freshly cut-grass and violet that are only available at the Trianon Palace Versailles.

All of the in-suite amenities were designed specifically to help create a cocooning experience, per the hotel.

For example, a “sleep bracelet” from watch designer Philip Stein that aims to provide a peaceful sleep through natural frequency technology can be found in the Five Senses suite rooms.

Additionally, the Trianon Palace Versailles will be providing the couple with a unique NightCove sleep system.

This technology seeks to ensure a night of restorative sleep through a variety of light and sound diffusion programs.

The sensual experiences do not stop in the suite.

Trianon Palace Versailles’ package also includes a dinner of French specialties in the 10-table restaurant Gordon Ramsay au Trianon which as a view of the Parc de Versailles.

A couple also has the option of a less-formal dinner at Gordon Ramsay’s La Véranda which boasts a more contemporary design and continental cuisine.

An hour-long Imperial massage in the on-site Guerlain spa is also included for each person.

Trianon Palace Versailles is offering the 24-hour package starting at $1,300.

While the package will be available all year, the hotel likely made a smart move by unveiling it in time for Valentine’s Day.

In fact, many luxury hotels have been emphasizing their properties as the perfect romantic getaways for the holiday.

For example, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is tapping into the Valentine’s Day craze through a fan-curated giveaway application on its corporate Facebook page, a themed digital magazine article and hotel experiences (see story).

In addition, New York’s Ritz-Carlton Battery Park hotel is hosting a special dinner Feb. 14 and is promoting a special anniversary package for couples (see story).

The Trianon Palace Versailles is mostly promoting its Five Senses package through travel agents and media relations, per Mr. Salamin.

“With the Five Senses experience, we are targeting affluent travelers who are seeking the ultimate romantic getaway in the French countryside,” he said.
