Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana is restructuring leadership with a new appointment.

Former Gucci CEO Stefano Cantino will serve as co-CEO; he will work alongside chairman and chief executive officer Alfonso Dolce to further the label’s evolution as a lifestyle company, per a statement from Dolce & Gabbana released today. Mr. Cantino steps in as cofounder Stefano Gabbana resigns from his role as chairman, staying involved in a creative capacity, as announced April 10.

“I am pleased to have Stefano Cantino by my side in this new phase of growth and development of Dolce&Gabbana,” said Mr. Dolce, in a statement.

New dawn
A political science graduate of Italy’s University of Turin, Mr. Cantino’s extensive career in fashion began with a two-decade-long tenure at Italian fashion brand Prada, where he worked across marketing and communication.

Following his time at Prada, the Italian-born executive held senior leadership positions at French fashion house Louis Vuitton before joining Italian fashion label Gucci as its chief executive officer in October 2024 (see story). He held the position until September 2026.

“It is an honor for me to join Dolce & Gabbana, a brand that represents Italian excellence around the world in such an extraordinary way,” said Mr. Cantino, in a statement.
