Italian luxury yacht manufacturer Baglietto is revealing its environmental progress.

This week, the La Spezia-based company released its inaugural sustainability report, detailing its ESG efforts in 2024, as well as its plans for the coming years. New technology, brand heritage and inclusion serve as guiding principles for past and future actions.

“We believe that investing in sustainability is not only a moral obligation but also a strategic choice to ensure a better future for the next generations,” said Diego Michele Deprati, CEO of Baglietto, in a statement.

“This is why we continue to invest in research and development, embracing innovative solutions and low-impact production processes – such as the Bzero project, which includes the use of green hydrogen as part of the energy and propulsion system for yachts over 50 meters – while always keeping the well-being of people and communities at the heart of our mission.”

New standards
In recent months, the brand has developed and begun utilizing advanced, efficient technology onboard, leading to more environmentally friendly operations.

For example, its aforementioned Bzero initiative pushed for a zero-emission standard across the yachting industry. The new DOM133 series vessel, released in January 2025, combines standard diesel engines with electric motors, minimizing its impact on the surrounding ecosystems.

Baglietto has also brought itself into compliance with several standards set by the global NGO International Organization for Standardization. In adopting ISO 14001, the brand lessened its emissions, waste production and resource consumption.

Outside of environmental fixtures, the manufacturer has also been certified in multiple high-end employee management standards, as well as occupational health and safety programs. Diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives have also been implemented over the past year, which aim to promote the voices of underserved communities while maintaining 170 years of brand heritage.

In line with these goals, the firm has also reaffirmed its support for several local and international charitable organizations that support social causes, though Baglietto has remained tight-lipped on its partners. All of its current ESG endeavors will continue in the future, with a focus set on creating a "more equitable and resilient economy" within the greater luxury boating sector.

Smooth sailing
Baglietto’s efforts to modernize and revitalize the yachting space through a sustainable lens come during a boom period for the travel space, particularly on the water.

Industry titans such as The Ritz-Carlton (see story) and Four Seasons (see story) continue to invest heavily in their respective yacht divisions, introducing new ships, itineraries and onboard programming to their fleets.

While luxury spending is down across the board, the hospitality sector remains mostly unaffected, with wellness and slow travel trends pushing growth, especially in Asia Pacific (see story). Branded travel experiences, among other diversification efforts, are among the most in-demand business avenues for major industry players to adopt, as greater value is placed on experiences over product (see story).
