Does the closure of museums, monuments halt Washington tourism?

Will the absence of nationally funded sites gash business for Washington's luxury hotels, or are there ways to sidestep the harm caused by the government shutdown?

Since many national and international tourists visit Washington to view federal museums and monuments, the sudden shutdown and unforeseen reopening of these sites may dramatically reduce traffic. Furthermore, the closure of parks around the country may cause the net of damage to be cast even further.
